7 Days sailing in the stunning Greek Islands
Adventure sailing, commanding the boat both upwind & downwind
Explore the Greek culture and island life in the med
A different harbour & town every night
We’ll be enjoying the Greece islands, with an itinerary that is decided last minute to maximise enjoyment but likely to head south ot the most famous and beautiful island chain in the Med – the Cyclades.
Think Syros, Mykonos, Paros, Ios, Santorini, Naxos, Milos, Sifnos and more. And with our eminent professor of Ancient history on board (Dr. Borland) you’ll be getting detailed history lessons on the various civilisations that have fought and ruled over some of the most famous islands
Because we’ll be sailing fast we will cover some great distances during the week BUT still be in harbour each night to enjoy traditional Greek food and entertainment. We’ll also be stopping as frequently as possible for swim stops and anchoring up.
Everyone will have plenty of time at the helm, commanding the boat both upwind and also downwind under spinnaker. These boats come with a huge array of race sails including 2 spinnakers.
These are seriously racer boats and each yacht will have a highly experienced skipper.
The trip is open to those who are either experienced sailors OR who are keen to experience fast and sporty sailing. We will be covering a lot more miles than a normal cruising trip and sailing for between 6-8 hours per day, depending on the wind speed.
You will learn about the different sails a race yacht has for upwind and downwind sailing, the various lines to control the different headsails (jib, Solent, Code Zero), how to set and douse a spinnaker, and helming a yacht when doing 15+ knots
With 2 identical yachts there will also be a little time for racing each other
But don’t think race boat doesn’t mean comfort. Pogo yachts are just as comfortable as the big yachts we take for our Summer flotilla with all the mods cons you’ll find in a crusiig yacht including fridges, oven, bathrooms, lounges.
