Itinerary

Travel to Alimos from Athens airport. The adventure starts here, on the Athenian Riviera. Known for its stunning beaches and waterside dining, this awesome town is full of Greek charm! Those who arrive early can stroll the marina and enjoy an ouzo in the sun. At 6pm we’ll all gather at one of Alimos’ famous tavernas, meet your skippers and crewmates and enjoy that first day of holiday feeling.

Get your sea legs ready for a morning on the open sea. Today we set sail for Perdika. There’ll be plenty of reasons to get the snorkels out during this beautiful day sailing around the Saronic islands, before we spend a chilled evening in the traditional fishing village of Perdika. Pretty much real life Mamma Mia, Perdika is everything you imagined of a Greek island and is set to enchant you with its simple charm.

Today we head to the mythical island of Hydra. Arriving at midday so we can get the full experience of this magical island, where there are no cars and the only form of transport is by donkey. This is one of the highlights of the trip, with its outstanding architecture, white washed houses with terracotta roofs built into the hillside, not to mention the abundance of picturesque tavernas. Don’t be fooled though, this town becomes alive at night and the ouzo will be flowing!

Today we set sail for Spetses, a total contrast to its Bohemian little sister Hydra. For those of you in need of a culture fix, Spetses is an island with a long history, unique architecture and rich naval past. Be sure to visit the former mansion of the only female admiral in world naval history – Laskarina Bouboulina. Aside from ogling the architecture, you can hike the gentle green hills or cycle the coastal road that circles the island. With its awesome museums, beautiful beaches, crystal clear waters, cosmopolitan nightlife, there’s something for everyone on this epic island.

Now we put you to the test in the Annual Sailing The Med Yacht Race – no skippers allowed! Some serious swimming delights to be discovered as we reach our next island, Poros. Picture perfect, Poros’s terracotta-roofed houses are stacked like steps ascending the hillside. Get your gladrags out and your dancing shoes on, as we paint the town red, after our prize giving dinner in the most happening town in the region.

Our penultimate day at sea. Get behind the helm or sunbathe and sip on a midday beer in the sun, whatever your sailing style, today is the day to make the most of it. Approaching Vathi by sea is one hell of an experience. The homeland of Odysseus, filled with ancient architecture and traditional tavernas, the island of Ithaca is authentic, enchanting and unspoiled. We’ll moor here and enjoy our final night all together.

Awaking in a location where you can simply dive overboard for your morning shower is simply perfection. After making the most of the final mid-morning swim, we’ll head back to our starting port of Alimos. Savour the Greek sunshine, snap the final pics of the enchanting islands and stunning scenery, before we return to port late afternoon. Have one last drink and then bid farewell to all your new besties.
Getting There/Away
The best option is to fly into the international airport of Athens. You can fly from most airports in the UK, Athens also has great connections across Europe.
From Athens there are three options to get to Alimos Marina. Option 1, bus from the airport which takes 1 hour 20 minutes and costs 5 Euros, Option 2 is the train which costs 10 Euros and takes 1 hour or Option 3, taxi which takes 35-40 minutes and costs 10-15 Euros per person. You’re bound to be on the same flight as a host of other people, so don’t worry too much about the transfers until closer to your arrival.
Flights
We’ll be sailing from Alimos Marina, in the afternoon on Saturday 23rd August, but don’t worry if you arrive after 4pm on a later flight, on Saturday evening we’ll be anchored and celebrating our first night in the bay of Sounio. If you are on a later flight ie. arriving after 4pm then you can take a taxi from Athens airport which takes 35-40 minutes.
There are a number of flights that arrive in to Athens on the Saturday morning and evening, or extend your trip and get a flight in the night before.
