Itinerary

Leg Two starts with day sightseeing in the tiny country of Gibraltar. Meet the monkeys that have become synonymous with the country as you climb the iconic Rock. There are so many cultural places to visit and sights to see, so we recommend arriving early! That evening we’ll kick off this trip with a bang as we join up with the sailors from leg one.

We set sail in the morning from Gibraltar and follow the South Andalusian coastline eastwards towards the popular town of Malaga. Often underrated, Malaga has something for everything, the museum of Picasso, castles, shops and perhaps what it’s best known for …its beautiful sandy beaches!

Following this scenic route, we leave the lively Malaga for the lush green town of Montril. Taking in the crystal clear, passing hidden coves and charming fishing villages as we go. Framed with a backdrop of majestic mountains, Montril is simply majestic.

Next stop is the historical town of Almeria, this lesser known Spanish town has some magnificent sights to see including the Alcazaba of Almeria – a 10th century fortress, the 15th century Cathedral, not to mention the restaurants ready to ply you with tapas and sangria galore.

This coast line never gets old! Soak up the peace and calm of the South Coast of Spain on our last day of sailing leg two. Marvel at the beauty of the Atlantic estuaries, stunning seaside towns, impressive coastal cliffs and we might even pass a few coastal castillos. Arriving into the city of Cartagena late afternoon, we’ll see out our last evening in style.

Our last and final stop on this leg is Cartagena, the home of the Spanish Navy. Seated on the South Easterly tip of Spain, you’ll feel you’ve stepped back in time as the city has just so much history. The Roman Theatre is beyond impressive, there are castles, museums, palaces galore to explore and we haven’t even touched on the places to eat!

Getting There/Away

The best option is to fly into the airport of Gibraltar. You can fly from most airports in the UK. Gibraltar also has great connections across Europe.

From the airport there are two options to get to the marina its a 5 minute taxi ride or a 15 minute walk. You’re bound to be on the same flight as a host of other people, so don’t worry too much about the transfers until closer to your arrival.

Getting Away
The best airport to fly from is Corvera. From Cartagena port to Corvera Airport you can get there by bus which costs €8.50 and takes 45 mins or taxi which takes 25 mins and costs €10 Euros per person.

Flights

We’ll having a celebratory meal with the sailors from leg 1 on Tuesday 30th April, so you are welcome to come and join us for this. We’ll be setting sail on Wednesday 1st May at 10:00am so please arrive by then.

Return wise, we’ll be arriving in to Cartagena in the afternoon of Saturday 4th May. We usually celebrate the end of leg 2 that evening, so we’d suggest flying back on Sunday 5th May. The closest airports are Corvera and Alicante, we’ve suggested flights below.
